Anthony Joseph Arnone, Jr.

Anthony Joseph Arnone, Jr was a caring husband, proud father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all. He went to his heavenly home on Monday, June 7, 2021 at the age of 86. He was born on March 14, 1935 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Anthony Arnone Sr and Mary Anzalone Arnone.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Caroline Scalia Arnone, his loving children David Arnone, Lisa Arnone Jackson (Danny), and Suzanne Arnone Smith (Scott) and 7 grand children, Brittany Jackson Kimble (Stephan), Brooke Jackson, Breanne Jackson, Madison Jackson, Austin Smith, Cameron Smith, and Kristen Arnone Gaudet (Johnathan) and 6 great grand children Parker Roubique, Jackson Ketchum, Baylor Kimble, Brinley Lamartinere, Jensen and Saylor Gaudet. He is also survived by his siblings Joseph Arnone (Diana), Rosalie Arnone Lato(Tony), and Ronnie Arnone and his brother-in-law Tommy Boutwell and sister-in-law Virginia Boutwell and a host of nieces and nephews.  

Anthony is preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Mary Arnone.

After graduating from Independence High School, he served our country in the US Army. He married his sweetheart and began his career in customer service. He worked at A&P Grocery for 20 years as well as the plumbing industry. He is most known for his life long career as the manager of Sciara’s Skate Center for the past 48 years and co-owner of Carol’s Flowers for the past 40 years. For it is through these two careers that he was able to do what he truly loved to do which is to make people smile. Anthony was able to touch so many lives at the skating rink where he served as a positive role model to many children. He loved assisting his wife at Carol’s by delivering flowers within our community. Anthony made friends wherever he went. He was a rare individual who was genuinely interested in getting to know people. Once he knew you, he considered you a friend from that moment foward. Anthony believed you never went anywhere empty handed. His generosity was endless. His smile and laughter was contagious. He was a gentlemen of all gentlemen who loved his family, his country, and God above all. His family would like to thank the doctors and staff at North Oaks Hospital, North Oaks Hospice, and The Richard Murphy Hospice House for caring for him during his time of need.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Thursday, June 10, 2021, beginning at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The visitation will continue the following day, Friday, June 11, 2021 at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM. A funeral mass will be held following the visitation at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 600 North Oak Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, at 11:00 am.  

Interment will follow in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana.
