Anna Norwood Hernandez

Anna Norwood Hernandez, age 89, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Ponchatoula Community Care Center. She was born on October 30, 1935 in McComb, Ms, to the late Robert and Ora Norwood. She was a devote Christian who loved to collect angels and sweaters. Anna was known to be hardworking with a big personality. In her free time, she could be found outdoors fishing, gardening, or feeding wildlife. Her hobbies included thrift shopping and cooking her famous roast with rice and gravy. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

She leaves behind her daughter, Joan Mattina (Dean); grandchildren, Courtney Peterson (Jesse), John Travis Guidroz (Brandi), and Dean J. Mattina II; great-grandchildren, Landon Riley, Aiden Riley, Carter Riley, and Shawn Guidroz; step-daughter, Linda Guidroz (Jimmy); step-grandchildren, Charmaine, Shanna, and Dusty; sister, Ann Norwood Durham; and her brother, Hubert Norwood; her nephew and caregiver, Carl Dunkin (Cathy); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert and Ora Norwood; husband, Emanuel Hernandez Jr.; step-son, Emanuel J. Hernandez; brothers, Cecil, Jolly, Shelton, Dick and Buddy; and her sisters, Herlie and Lawuna.

Family and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia St. Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Tony Jones will officiate the services with interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker, Louisiana at 1:30 p.m..
