Ann Kurtz Wood

Ann Kurtz Wood, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away at her home on Monday, July 3, 2023, at the age of 84. She was born on January 9, 1939, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Alvin Jacob Kurtz Sr. and Stephanie Trazivuk Kurtz. Ann was born and raised in New Orleans. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula and loved the devotion to The Divine Mercy. Ann was a valued and knowledgeable administrator for over 20 years in the warranty service department at Boyce Machinery and Ford until she retired. She loved traveling, taking train trips with her husband, and especially enjoyed visiting the Peabody Hotel in Memphis. Ann treasured her family especially her grandkids.

Ann is survived by her children, Stephanie Waguespack (Francis), Pattie Schoen (Lloyd), and Russell Stephen Wood; grandchildren, Candace Haydell (C.J.), Sarah Flinn (Jon), Jason Waguespack (Alana), Ryan Acosta, Dane Acosta (Brittany), Jessica Holt (Mark), and Russell Thomas Wood (Deanna); step-grandson, Lloyd Schoen III; great grandchildren, Rider, Kirra, Madilyn, and Jaxon Acosta, Ariel, Gabriel, Samuel, and Michael Haydell, Ava, Ingrid, and Faye Waguespack, Isabella Flinn, Sebastian Holt, and Russell E. Wood; step-great grandson, Hayden Byrd; brothers, Alvin J. Kurtz Jr. (Marie) and Stephen Kurtz (Karen); and 5 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Frederick "Chip" Wood.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. 

A Rosary will be said at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 255 North 8th Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Saturday at 1:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Mass at 1:30 pm, with Fr. Paul McDuffie officiating.

Interment will follow at Garden Of Memories in Metairie, Louisiana at 3:30 pm.
