Mrs. Ann G. Recotta age 89, passed away on July 13, 2021. She was a lifetime resident of Hammond as well as member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Ann was a co-owner and operator of Guy's Quality Food along with her husband Guy Recotta, Sr.
Ann and her husband, Guy Recotta, Sr. ran Guy's Grocery starting in 1966 after taking over from her parents, Joseph J. Giacone and Mary Locasio Giacone who owned and operated Giacones' Grocer from 1925 until 1966.
Ann graduated from Holy Ghost Catholic School, Hammond High School and attended Southeastern Louisiana College. Ann was married to Guy Recotta, Sr. for 62 years before his death and has 3 children; Frances Marie Recotta, Joseph Charles Recotta married to Artist McClain Recotta and Guy Recotta, Jr. all of Hammond, Louisiana. Ann leaves two grandsons; Joseph Charles Recotta, Jr. and his wife Tara Recotta and Brandon Cutrer Recotta.
Ann was active in business for many years in downtown Hammond. She was a member of the Central Business District Association with Guy's Grocery and Hammond Chamber of Commerce for many years. Ann was also co-founder of the Hammond Heritage Day celebration which started in 1980.
Ann is preceded in death by her husband Guy Recotta, Sr., her father Joseph J. Giacone and her mother Mary Locascio Giacone. Ann will be interred at Rose Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum alongside her husband and parents. Ann will be cremated and there will be a private memorial service scheduled for the family in the near future followed by a celebration for her life per her request.
The family would like to thank the employees and staff of Modern Home Health for the loving care they provided. Thanks to our friends and Mrs. Pat Broadway who was her primary caregiver.
