Angelo Sam Mannino, Jr.

Angelo Sam Mannino Jr., of Independence, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the age of 67. He was born on Wednesday, March 9, 1955, in Independence, Louisiana.

Angelo was a life long resident from Independence, La. He was the owner of Whitetail Butcher Shop & Mama Mannino's for over 30 years. He processed deer and alligators from all over the country and was know for his delicious family Italian sausage recipe.

Angelo was a hard working man that liked to stay busy while running his butcher shop. He was the meat department manager at Winn-Dixie for over 34 years. He was also a retired school bus driver for Tangipahoa Parish.

He was married to his beautiful loving wife, Nancy, for almost 48 years. He was the proud father of his two sons, Bryan and Scottie and his daughter in law, Lorrinda. His absolute pride and joy were his three granddaughters Mackynzie, Addyson and Jordyn and one grandson Carter. He is also survived by his brother, Joe Maninno. He loved to fish, hunt and spent most of his time volunteering for New Life Ministries.

He was a businessman and a former Mayor of Independence that dedicated his time to helping his community. He was a respected leader and a great friend to all to that knew him. His kind and giving heart will be tremendously missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo Sam Mannino Sr. and Mary Ragusa Mannino, sisters and brothers, Laura, Mike, Sam, Carmelite and Rose Marie. He is also preceded in death by an infant brother.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Hammond , 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, from 11:00a.m. until services in the funeral home chapel at 1:00p.m.

Interment will follow at Colonial Cemetery in Independence, Louisiana.
