Angelina Marie Guzzardo passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 91. She was born on Tuesday, May 2, 1933 in Independence, Louisiana to the late Mary Vittoria Garafola and the late Pete Garafola. She was a life long resident of Independence, Louisiana. On July 17, 1952, Angelina married Gus Guzzardo, Sr., and they spent their lives together until his passing in 1993. After retiring from Lallie Kemp, she spent many years working as a seamstress and serving her community, especially through Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church. Angelina enjoyed playing Pokeno and Bourré, cooking for her family, and sewing for countless hours for an immeasurable amount of people. She leaves a legacy of her large Italian family, including 6 children, 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Angelina was blessed to be a part of five living generations, and they were blessed to have her as the matriarch of their family.
Angelina is survived by her children, Gus Guzzardo, Jr., Joseph Guzzardo(Marie Domiano), David Guzzardo(Connie Forshag), Angela Miller, and George Guzzardo(Brandi Rhodes); grandchildren, April Baiamonte, Melissa Pellichino, Victoria Bruno, Christy Bellue, Jennifer Blanchard, Holly Herpich, Ryan Guzzardo, Brad Guzzardo, LaKrystal Smith, Aaron Guzzardo, Tiffany Guzzardo, Lawton Guzzardo, Ashley Hill, Vaughn Ferrara, Mary Miller, Alexandra Miller, Lacey Miller, Cameron Guzzardo, Cayden Guzzardo, Gianna Guzzardo, Hunter Rhodes and Alyssa Rhodes; great-grandchildren, Joseph Baiamonte, Nicholas Baiamonte, Anthony Pellichino, Isabella Pellichino, Corrina Pellichino, Ava Bruno, Audrey Bruno, Mara Herpich, Enna Herpich, Cecilia Herpich, Adriana Blanchard, Callie Deranger, Kyle Hill, Kodi Hill, Blakely Guzzardo, Brantly Guzzardo, Brently Guzzardo, Kota Monroe, Zarek McCallister, Malakai Smith, Kensley Smith, Daniel McKeen, and Charlotte Sanders; great-great-grandchildren, C.J. Baiamonte, Brody Baiamonte, and Jace Graves; brother, Sal Garafola(Geraldine); and brother-in-law, Joe Mannino.
She was preceded in death by her father, Pete Garafola; mother, Mary Vittoria Garafola; husband, Gus Guzzardo, Sr.; son, Richard Guzzardo; grandson, Blake Guzzardo; sister, Margaret Garafola Mannino; daughters-in-law, Kathleen Lee and Josie Maurer; and son-in-law, Michael Miller.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. There will be a eulogy for Angelina at 8:30 PM, after which the visitation will continue. A Rosary will take place the following day, Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the funeral home at 8:00 AM. The visitation will continue following the Rosary from 8:15 AM until 10:30 AM. A funeral mass will follow the visitation at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 620 3rd Street, Independence, Louisiana 70443, at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Colonial Cemetery, Independence, Louisiana.
