Amelia Louise Starkey Alfonso

Amelia Louise Alfonso  passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020, in Husser, Louisiana, at the age of 90.  She was born on Tuesday, February 11, 1930 in Hammond, Louisiana to the late Irmalea Benton and William W. Starkey.  She was a resident of Husser, Louisiana.

Amelia is survived by one daughter, RoseAnn Alfonso Strate; two grandchildren, Trey Strate and William Strate; three great grandchildren, Davey and Dakota Holyfield and Vincent Strate; one sister, Florence Starkey Gatlin; one brother, Wayne Starkey; devoted companion of more than thirty years, Thomas Browning and his children and grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Faye Jones Starkey, Harvis Ann Dunn Starkey, and Caroline Baham Starkey, numerous nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends and family of the Alfonsos, Brownings, and Strates.

Amelia is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam Alfonso; son-in-law, Charles Strate; granddaughter, Samantha Strate; two sisters, Hilda Gambino and Delores Robertson; and five brothers, Roy "Buck" Starkey,  William "Jerry" Starkey, Harold Starkey, Donald Starkey, C.G. Starkey, and C.G.'s twin brother, who died at birth.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, September 26, 2020 beginning at 9:00 AM Until the funeral service begins at 12:00 PM.  

Interment will follow in Martin Cemetery, Natalbany, Louisiana.
