Emblem

Alvin Frank Flanagan, Jr., age 83, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. He enjoyed being outdoors, turkey hunting, and fly fishing. Alvin was known to fix anything and everything that needed fixing, naming him "Mr. Fix-it". He proudly served his country in the US Air Force for 4 years. Alvin retired as an Operator from Dupont after many dedicated years. After retiring, he and his wife, Mrs. Shirley, volunteered at Habitat for Humanity and the Fuller Shop for 20 years, helping the less fortunate get back on their feet. In his family, he was known as the family cook; his famous gumbo, red beans and rice, and spaghetti will be deeply missed on their Sunday family tradition. He was a wholehearted Christian man, who served as a deacon at Woodland Park Baptist Church and later went to Bethlehem Baptist Church where he taught bible study. Alvin was a people person who could talk to anyone and make them feel welcome, who would witness to them and share the word of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In his spare time, he could often be found babysitting his grandchildren, which he truly enjoyed. Alvin was affectionately called, "PawPaw" by his family, who could tell the best stories, give the tightest hugs and always had the right words to say. Paw Paw was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all who knew him and is already looking down from heaven with a smile on his face.

He leaves behind his adoring wife of 65 years, Shirley Flanagan; children, Donna Henry, Stephanie Dantone (Michael), Dale Flanagan (Janell), and Donald Flanagan (Roberta); beautiful grandchildren, Lindsay Domiano, Raechel Brice (Jordan), John "J.P." Flanagan, Hunter Dantone, Ricky Henry (Leah), Jenna Bivings (Ryan), Caleb Flanagan, Raeghen Henry, Madelynn Henry, Noah Flanagan, and Timothy Flanagan; precious great-grandchildren, Laila Domiano, Lily Domiano, Laynee Kate Domiano, Denver Domiano, Stella Bivings, Austin Brice, Brooks Brice, and one on the way, Tripp.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Clara and Alvin Flanagan Sr.; as well as his siblings, Donald Flanagan, Jimmy Flanagan, and JoAnn Beyl.
