Allen "Big A" Anthony died peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the age of 79. He was born on Monday, March 27, 1939 in Amite, Louisiana. He was a proud resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
Allen retired from Cudahy Meat Packing where he was employed as a butcher. Later in life, he was employed by Joiner Construction and B&K Construction where he laid gas lines all over the state of Louisiana.
Allen is survived by his sister, Betty Anthony McCrory (Brian), sister-in-law, Sylvia Anthony; nieces, Danielle McCrory, Irene Anthony, Emma Lou Bardwell (Tommy), Lynn Wood, and Debbie Anthony (Sandy); nephews, Yancey Brown, Huey McCrory (Tracie), Jimmy Anthony (Nancy), Bobby Anthony, and Jason Anthony (Alisa), great-nieces, Evy, Kylie, and Christa; great-nephews, Ian (Sandy), Wes, Tye, Eli, Jeremy, Brice, Jacob, Zack, Brodie (Molly), Blake, Coy, Kade, and Kasen; great great-nieces, Carly Grace, Presleigh, Khloe, and Kinsleigh; great great-nephews, Mason, Colt, Baby Rhett, and Brady. He is also survived by many, many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob "Jake" Anthony; mother, Evy Neal Anthony; brothers, Eddie and Buddy Anthony; and nephews, E. "Henry" Anthony and Edgar Allen Anthony.
Though he is no longer by our sides, he will remain forever in our hearts.
A visitation for Allen will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and will continue Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service celebrating Allen's life will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow in Briar Patch Cemetery, Loranger, Louisiana.
