Alex Joseph Vampran

Alex Joseph Vampran passed away in his home on Sunday, August 27, 2023, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 83. He was born on Saturday, May 18, 1940 in Bear Island, Louisiana to the late Lillian Fontenot Vampran and the late Jesse Vampran. He was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

Alex loved to cook, and he also loved to teach others to cook. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and the simple joy of being in nature. Most of all, he loved his Lord, his wife, and his family.

Alex is survived by his wife of 64 years, Leatrice Pinion Vampran; son, Christopher Vampran; daughter & son-in-law, Kim Prokop and Alex Prokop; daughter & son-in-law, Vickie Jones and Brian "B.J." Jones; daughter & son-in-law, Michelle Watkins and Michael Watkins; grandchildren, Brittany Reno LeBlanc, Delaney Vampran Foster, Michael Vampran, Alex Paul Reno, Caroline Demars, Grace Demars, and Morgan Watkins; great-grandchildren, Kinley LeBlanc, Elliott Foster, Aldo Vampran, and Rene LeBlanc IV; siblings, Iris Perkins(Ralph), Belva McCrory(Donnie), and Clyde Vampran; and brother-in-law, Danny Frederic.

In addition to his parents, Alex is also preceded in death by his sister, Emell Frederic.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, September 2, 2023, beginning at 9:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 12:00 PM. A Rosary will take place before the visitation at 8:30 AM.

Interment will follow in Maurepas Cemetery, Maurepas, Louisiana.
