Dad was born the morning of September 7, 1930, and passed away peacefully at his home in Springfield on February 19, 2026 with loved ones by his side. A native of Hammond, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Hildreth Hotard Quave, his siblings Yvonne Quave Crawford and Janice Quave Dittmann, his beloved wife and best friend of 70 years, Bobbie Rae Rogers Quave and his daughter, Cindy Quave Corkern.
He is survived by his daughters, Jeannie Quave Douglass and Carolyn Quave, and by his son, Albert Quave Jr. Known lovingly as “PawPaw,” he was cherished by his six grandchildren-Bobbi Corkern Hill (Andrew), Clint Corkern (Jordan), Hal Douglass (Dawn), Kyle Corkern (Asima), Callie Corkern Pitchford (John David), and Neal Corkern-and was the proud great-grandfather of twelve.
Dad served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he and his wife, Bobbie, established Quave’s Grocery in Albany, Louisiana, where they served their community until they moved to Springfield in 1978.
A man deeply connected to the land, Dad found joy in raising cattle and took great pride in his catfish pond and satsuma orchard where nothing delighted him more than sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and neighbors. He loved hunting, fishing, and cheering on LSU sports. In his later years, he found peace and joy in watching the wildlife from his living room chair.
Dad will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
We, the family extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice Northshore for their compassionate care, and to the dedicated daily caregivers who lovingly supported Dad in his final years.
